Pidilite snaps up Egyptian firm

MUMBAI: Pidilite Industries, the construction chemical and adhesive manufacturer, on Thursday said it is acquiring Pidilite Industries Egypt, for an undisclosed sum.
It is not clear if Pidilite Industries Egypt, which was earlier known as Sadafco, is a group company or not.

Further financial details of the transaction were disclosed. Pidilite Industries has been quite active on the merger and acquisitions front. Over the past few years, it has picked up stakes in companies across the globe.

Its earlier targets include Dubai-based construction chemical company UCC, Singaopre-based Chemson Asia, Thailand’s Bamco, Brazil’s Pulvitec do Brasil Industria e comercio de colas e adesivos Limitada, and India’s Pagel Concrete Technologies.

Pidilite has two major business segments — branded consumer and bazaar products (about 70% of revenue) and industrial speciality chemicals. Products like adhesives, sealants, construction and paint chemicals come under branded consumer and bazaar products.

Products like industrial adhesives, synthetic resins, organic pigments, pigment preparations, surfactants, etc, are covered under the industrial speciality chemicals business segment.
