Govt officials arrested in land scam

AURANGABAD: Aurangabad division’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday arrested 19 people, including deputy collector of Ambajogai, Beed district, in an alleged land scam case in Jalna district. 

ACB officials raided their houses, including houses of ten government officials, in connection with the transfer of 11,400 sq yards of government land at Majlis Jalnapur, worth Rs7,79,46,000, in favour of one Krishnarao Mitkar.

Mitkar had filed an application before the then tahsildar Kamlakar Phad (now the deputy collector at Ambajogai taluka) stating that the government had allotted the land under survey No 204 and 258 to his grandfather.

However, a probe by ACB deputy superintendent HM Shaikh revealed that claims made by Mitkar were reporetdly baseless.
