CBI raids Maj Gen's premises in disproportionate assets case

NEW DELHI: CBI on Wednesday raided a Major General posted at the Army's South Western Command at Jaipur for allegedly possessing disproportionate assets worth several crores of rupees and conducted searches at 12 places spread over five states.
     
A FIR registered by the CBI claimed that Major General Anand Kumar and his family members had six immovable properties worth a total Rs 5.33 crore in Delhi, Shimla and Gurgaon.
    
The accused and his family members also had bank balances and fixed deposits to the tune of Rs 57.86 lakh and various other investments totalling Rs 1.21 crore.
     
The total disproportionate assets have been assessed at Rs 4.78 crore, the CBI alleged.
   
During the searches so far, the CBI claimed to have recovered fixed deposits worth Rs 1.03 crore and four bank locker keys, the sources said.
