NEW DELHI: BJP on Thursday stood its ground saying that the power-sharing agreement with the JD(S) in Karnataka was 'non-negotiable' and party leader BS Yediyurappa was its chief ministerial candidate.

"The arrangement entered between the JD(S) and the BJP has to be implemented," BJP spokesman Yashwant Sinha said after a meeting of the BJP Parliamentary Board.

JD(S) supremo HD Deve Gowda is meeting BJP chief Rajnath Singh on Friday to discuss the ensuing stalemate over transfer of power to the BJP as agreed about two years back.

"I will not be able to answer that today. Deve Gowda is meeting our national president tomorrow things will become clear after that," Sinha said when asked whether he hoped for a breakthrough on the imbroglio.

Earlier, the Parliamentary Board, the highest decision-making body of the BJP, took stock of the political situation in Karnataka. State and central BJP leaders briefed the Parliamentary Board about the developments in the state.

The Parliamentary Board decided to meet again on Saturday, a day after the meeting of Rajnath Singh and Deve Gowda, who had called the BJP chief seeking a meeting with him.

Asked to comment on Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy's remarks in Bangalore on early elections, Sinha said the BJP 'disapproved' such utterances by 'responsible' people.

"We have noted the remarks made by some responsible people."

"We do not approve this but at the same time since we want to abide by the coalition dharma, we do not want to say any thing petty to vitiate the atmosphere. We will answer if need be and at an appropriate," he said.
