NEW DELHI: In yet another case of road rage in the capital, a mini-bus driver allegedly hit a woman with an iron rod in full public view following an altercation over rash driving in the capital.

The incident took place in Mayur Vihar area of east Delhi at around 8 am when Abid, a doctor, and his wife Roshan Jaha were on their way to drop their daughter to her school, a senior police official said.

The mini-bus was coming from the wrong side and was dangerously moving towards the car, the official said adding the woman then asked the driver to drive carefully.

An enraged driver, Vicky, then took out an iron rod from inside the mini-bus and allegedly hit Raha on her head, he said.

"The bus was coming from the wrong side and we would have been driven over by him. But we managed to dodge. When my wife asked him to drive carefully he came out and hit her with a rod. She has a cut above her eye," Raha's husband Abid said.

Abid also suffered minor injuries when he tried to save the woman.

Raha was rushed to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital from where she was shifted to Guru Tegh Bahadur hospital. Doctors said she was out of danger.

Police have impounded the minibus and the driver, Vicky, was arrested.

Last month, a Chandigarh-based lawyer was beaten up by unidentified bikers after the former's car hit one of them in south Delhi.

In another case, a biker had allegedly bludgeoned a pedestrian in Tahirpur area of north-east Delhi.
