CPI-M condemns BJP, RSS efforts to obstruct Sethusamudram

KOLKATA: The CPI-M on Monday condemned the efforts by the BJP and RSS to obstruct the Sethusamudram project on religious ground to make a political capital.
 
At the end of the party's three-day Central Committee meeting here, the party said that the alignment of the canal was decided by the previous BJP-led NDA Government.
 
Now opposing the project was nothing but plain politics. All scientific evidence shows that there was only a natural geological formation.
 
The BJP is, the party said, bereft of any platform of people's issue and hence it is seeking to play a political game through communal polarisation.
 
The BJP is grossly mistaken if it thinks it can arouse religious sentiment on the issue and make political capital out of it.
 
The Central Committee demanded that the project be executed without delay.
