Sale of Bajaj bikes down 25 pc in Sep

NEW DELHI: Two-wheeler major Bajaj Auto on Monday reported a 25 per cent decline in motorcycle sales in September compared to the same month last year, continuing its dip in sales for over seven months.

The company said its motorcycle sales stood at 2,04,152 units against 2,71,377 units in the corresponding month last year.
   
Total mobike sales also declined by 24 per cent at 2,06,208 units against 2,72,271 units in September 2006, it added.

Three-wheeler sales also witnessed a decline of six per cent during the month at 26,288 units against 27,870 units in the year-ago period.
   
BAL's total two and three-wheeler sales during the month also fell by 23 per cent at 2l,32,496 units against 3,00,141 in the same month previous year. Exports, however, grew by 30 per cent at 48,048 units compared to 37,088 units in the corresponding period.

The company said it is expanding capacity for the newly launched bike model XCD DTS-Si to 75,000 units per month. This should translate into a 25 per cent market share of the value segment for Bajaj, enabling its overall market share to inch closer to 40 per cent
