SILIGURI: Eleven persons have been arrested in connection with the violence here on September 28, a senior official said.

Among the 11 persons arrested yesterday, two have received bullet injuries, Darjeeling Superintendent of Police Rajesh Subarna said here on Monday.

The two, presently undergoing treatment, were arrested on the basis of video clippings, he said.

The police were trying to identify some more persons who were "involved in the hooliganism" on that day on the basis of video footage and still photographs, he added.

Curfew was clamped here on September 28 to quell violence following a clash between fans of Indian Idol Prashant Tamang and local people allegedly over making way for an ambulance.

The army and BSF were also called in to check the spread of violence.

Eight government vehicles were damaged in the violence and 12 policemen, including an additional superintendent of police, were injured in the clash, the SP said.
