Prez to visit state on Oct 13

President Pratibha Patil will visit Amravati on October 13. Initially, the decision was to give a public reception at Mumbai, Amravati and Pune-Shirdi. But the programmes at Pune-Shirdi have been called off because of the infighting within the Congress.

“At the moment we have the confirmation of President’s visit to Amravati on October 13. It has been organised by the Amravati Corporation. Amravati is the home town of her in-laws,” a party leader said.

The initiative for Mumbai reception has come from BMC which is under Shiv Sena-BJP control. “As a result, the state government is not taking any initiative in organising the programme,” sources said.
