NEW DELHI: Two days after the CBI swooped down on retired Maj Gen VK Singh alleging contents of his book, India’s External Intelligence: Secrets of RAW, hampered national security, the author and his publisher Vivek Garg have decided to sue the agency.

“We have decided to file a defamation case against the agency because it acted against us without evidence. The CBI conducted the raids to harass us, nothing else,” said Garg, owner of Manas Publication that brought out Singh’s book about three months ago.

“We have already sold more than 3,000 copies of the book. Its contents do not hamper India’s security interest, instead they raise questions about those who have misused their authority and mismanaged funds,” he said.

“We will not take these raids lying down. The agency will have to explain to the court why our offices and residences were raided,” said a fuming Garg.

CBI sleuths swooped down on Singh on Friday on the basis of a complaint lodged by the cabinet secretariat. The former army officer was charged with illegally possessing confidential government documents.
