CHENNAI: Condeming the attack on its headquarters here and the house of its leader H Raja in Karaikudi allegedly by DMK workers, the Tamil Nadu unit of BJP on Sunday said it would petition the state Governor seeking the dismissal of the DMK Government.

A core committee meeting of the unit would be held on Monday after the return of state leaders from the BJP's National Executive meeting in Bhopal and after that they would meet Governor S S Barnala, BJP state Vice-president G Kumaravelu told reporters at the party office.

Accusing Electricity Minister Veerasamy of 'inciting' violence, he said the party would take legal recourse against him.

He alleged state Information Minister Parithi Ilamvazhuthi came in his official car and oversaw the demonstration in front of the BJP office.

Hundreds of alleged DMK workers ransacked the BJP's headquarters in the city while staging a demonstration against former BJP MP Ramvilas Vedanti's reported 'fatwa' against DMK patriarch and Chief Minister M Krunanidhi for his anti-Ram remarks.

The houses of Raja and his father-in-law also came under attack past midnight on Saturday.
