NEW DELHI: For those who believe India rides only on small cars, its time for a rethink.

Confident of the purchasing power of Indian consumers, UK-based Bentley is hotting up the super luxury segment with the launch of convertible Azure which will sport a price tag of a whopping Rs 3.8 crore (ex-showroom Delhi).

Bentley will launch its two super luxury convertibles -- Bentley Azure priced at Rs 3.8 crore and Bentley Continental GTC at Rs 2.10 crore (ex-showroom Delhi). The two models are among the most expensive cars to have hit the Indian roads.

The company plans to launch both the models by first week of next month.

"The launch of these two super luxury convertibles in Indian market will be a step forward toward Bentley's commitment to India and to fulfill the ever growing penchant of Indians for luxury cars by bringing to India the latest from the Bentley's stable globally," said Satya Bagla, Managing Director Exclusive Motors, Bentley's India partner.

Bentley Azure would be powered by a V-8 6.75 litre twin turbo-charged engine while Continental GTC would sport a 6.0 litre twin-turbo charged engine.

"We are excited to be bringing this international driving experience to the discerning Indian 'convertible' motoring enthusiasts," Bagla added.

The company plans to sell at least 25 cars every year in the Indian market. Since its foray in India in 2003, Bentley has sold more than 40 cars in the super-luxury segment.

The company, which imports its cars as completely built units in India, is also planning to set up another showroom in Mumbai by the end of 2009.
