Why is the DMK against the very idea of Ram Setu?
What Ram Setu? Ram Setu doesn’t exist. It’s Adam’s Bridge.
But surely, development can’t be at the cost of religious sentiments
Why should religion come in the way of progress? This is my answer to the question.
Why can’t Ram be God for a lot of people?
He can be. We have no issues over it. It is people’s faith. But one cannot believe that he lived or existed. There is no proof of his existence. That belief cannot stop the development of Adam’s Bridge.
Why do you say Ram doesn’t exist?
Just as there are people who feel Ram exists, there are lot of others who feel that he doesn’t exist. Anyway, scientifically and historically nobody has been able to prove the existence of Ram. So, why should I believe that Ram exists?
Religion is a very private issue, why make it public?
We did not start it. We are asking for the progress of Tamil Nadu. We only want development. We want people who live in the six coastal districts of the state to have a better life. DMK has always said that Ram doesn’t exist. Why then this sudden uproar? Karunanidhi wants to bring about social reforms.
Progress and God, what’s your choice?
Development is obviously more important. From the day religion came into existence blood has been shed in its name. For all the people who believe in religion, I have a question: Isn’t the purpose of religion to improve the lives of people?
