BHOPAL: Describing Left parties and DMK as major destabilising factors for the Manmohan Singh government creating a 'situation of uncertainty', BJP leader L K Advani on Saturday said the only thing that is certain is mid-term polls before the first half of 2008 in which the Indo-US nuclear deal and the Ram Setu issue would form part of the campaign.
"The Left parties and the DMK are the two major factors that have created a situation of uncertainty for the Manmohan Singh government. The only thing that is certain is that mid-term elections will take place before the first half of 2008," he told a public meeting here.
The Left is strongly opposing the Indo-US nuclear deal while the DMK is trying to create "unrest by making all out efforts to demolish the Ram Setu", thereby compounding the situation for the Congress-led coalition at the Centre, he said.
The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha said the BJP's protest against the nuclear deal was different from that of Left parties.
The saffron party believed in fostering good relations with the US while the Left had been maintaining an anti-US stand, he said.
Training guns at the Centre for denying existence of Lord Ram in affidavit submitted before the Supreme Court, Advani said the advocate who had submitted the documents had claimed in an interview with a media house that he had written it under instructions.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi should apologise to the people for denying the existence of Lord Ram, he said.
