RSS advises party leadership to bury differences among themselves and desist from getting swayed by various media reports

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leadership has apparently taken a dim view of contradictory statements being made by senior BJP leaders, often leading to damning effects on the party’s electoral fortunes. The RSS also advised the party leadership to sink differences between them and desist from getting swayed by media reports.

The three-day review meeting of top RSS and BJP leaders was held at Uttan near Bhayander in Thane district. Sangh sources denied that the meeting debated on the internal differences within the state unit. However, it said that the advice to maintain a uniform stand on issues was applicable to all leaders and state units.

Sources said that much debate followed after leader of opposition in Lok Sabha, LK Advani made his observations on the Indo-US nuclear deal. Advani had called for the parliament enacting similar laws on the nuke deal as enacted in the US Congress. Sources in the party admitted that instead of understanding the real meaning of Advani’s statements, aimed at ‘mid-course correction’ of the party’s stand, the focus was that it was Advani who was speaking.

The Sangh is also apparently impressed with the party leadership to support the Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s stand on the Ram Setusamudram project. The VHP will spearhead the agitation against the project, while the party cadres, till the taluka level, are expected to extend their support to the agitation.

As a fall out of the Sangh diktat on cohesive strategy in thought and action, the party is expected to review the pro-Sachar panel stand taken by party MLC Syed Pasha Patel. Currently Patel is touring the state, telling the minority community about the findings of the Sachar report.

Party sources added that the party has already trashed the report ever since the Congress led UPA has begun to press for its implementation. They say what needs to be highlighted was who should be held accountable for the plight of the minority community over the last six decades.
