NEW DELHI: Tata Teleservices on Monday introduced a post-paid mobile plan wherein its subscribers can call to the US and Canada at Rs 2 a minute during the off-peak hours of 9 pm and 9 am on weekdays and 24 hrs on Saturdays and Sundays.

The plan 'Talk World' comes with a monthly rental of Rs 299 and offers ILD call rates at Rs 4 a minute to Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia and Rs 7 per min for Africa /Middle East and Gulf between 9 pm and 9 am on weekdays and throughout Saturdays and Sundays.

It has also introduced a 3-minute pulse for STD calls to any Tata phone and incoming roaming calls at Re 1 for 3 minutes.

Tata Teleservices Circle Operating Officer, Delhi and NCR, Debashis Sur said, "we want to further facilitate 'affordable' calling for our consumers by offering reduced rates at off peak hours, which translates into prime calling time in the major ILD destinations.

"While calling cards are preferred over wireline/mobile due to the aggressive price drops, of late VOIP, being a relatively new technology, is used more frequently by the youth," he added.

BSNL's rates for USA and Canada is Rs 1.75 per minute and to the Gulf is Rs 6.75 per minute. Private players are offering ISD calls at Rs 1.99 per minute to USA, and Rs 6.99 per minute to Gulf countries. But there is no off peak or weekend concept in these tariffs.
