MUMBAI: Senior BJP leader LK Advani arrived on Saturday to attend a crucial RSS meeting which is likely to discuss the Sangh's role in aiding the party to get into election mode.

Advani arrived this morning and headed straight for Uttan in Bhayendar town of neighbouring Thane district to attend the third day of the 'samanvay baithak' (co-ordination meeting) that is underway there.

However, party sources said the meeting was a closed-door event and it was unlikely that any details of the deliberations would be revealed. Advani has also refused to speak to the press.

Senior Sangh functionaries from all over the country, including RSS chief KS Sudarshan, are attending the four-day meeting being held here after two years.

Party leaders in Delhi said the meeting would discuss how the Sangh could help the BJP which party general secretary Arun Jaitley says has launched itself into an election mode, in the future with a minimum role in its day-to-day affairs.

Advani, who had to step down as BJP chief over his Jinnah remarks, has been in the forefront since the Uttar Pradesh poll debacle in May.
