Student attacks teacher with pistol inside exam hall

ALLAHABAD: A student of a degree college here on Friday hit his teacher with the butt of a pistol upon being scolded for using unfair means in an examination, police said.

The incident took place at Ishwar Sharan Degree College in the city, where the student, Pankaj, was writing the supplementary examinations for BA Part-I.

He was caught cheating by teacher Rajesh Verma, who was on invigilation duty. Verma snatched Pankaj's answer script, reprimanded him for the malpractice and asked him to get out of the examination hall.

Enraged over being ticked off before fellow students, Pankaj pulled out a country-made pistol and hit Verma with its butt and fled, police said.

The teacher was taken to a hospital where his condition was stated to be out of danger.

Pankaj was absconding, police said adding investigations were also on to find out how he managed to enter the examination hall with the weapon.
