Sania-Bhupathi enter mixed doubles second round

NEW YORK: India's Sania Mirza and Mahesh Bhupathi moved into the second round of the mixed doubles of the US Open tennis tournament by defeating seventh seeds Elena Likhovtseva of Russia and Daniel Nestor of Canada 6-0, 6-2.

The unseeded Indian pair defeated the duo in the first round on Friday. They now face the fifth seeded Czech pair of Kveta Peshcke and Martin Damm.

In the singles event, Sania has booked a place in the third round. Bhupathi has advanced to the men's doubles second round.
