LONDON: Out of action for four months due to an ankle injury, England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff says he is keen to make a successful return against India without bothering much about captaincy.

Flintoff, who was stripped of vice-captaincy after a late-night drinking session during the World Cup in the West Indies, said he could get a chance to lead the side again in future.

"(The captaincy) is not something I'm thinking about to be honest. In years down the line, there is a chance but I just want to get back on the field. I have missed enough cricket now and just want to play," he told Sky Sports.

Flintoff will return to international scene in the seven-match NatWest one-day series where England, led by Paul Collingwood, will lock horns with India.

Flintoff said his main aim would be to see England clinch the series after the debacle in Test matches.

"Paul's taken over as captain and I'm sure he'll make a great captain over time.

"I had a taste of it but at this moment in time the thing for me is getting back out there performing, playing in the manner in which I know I can do.

"My aspirations at this time are performing, getting some big runs and big wickets and helping England win this NatWest Series," he said.
