PANAJI: Reacting to the allegations levelled by internationally acclaimed pop singer Remo Fernandes, Goa's main Opposition BJP adopted a cautious approach to bail itself out the Regional Plan controversy.

Remo, on Friday, had refused to accept the state award scheduled to be given to him on Saturday protesting against the "loot of the state" by the politicians.

He had pointed out that the masterminds behind the controversial Regional Plan 2011 are in the ministry and Opposition in the current government.

"It's his right not to accept the award but I feel that he should be talking about the government and not the Opposition. All those who were part of Regional Plan are in the state government, not in Opposition," Leader of Opposition Manohar Parrikar commented.

"All politicians are not bad. There are 10 to 15 per cent of them who are good. Politicians are part of society and reflect the society itself," Parrikar said.

The singer, who won the Padma Shri award, had said that accepting award given by the state government comprising such ministers and Opposition would be an insult to Padma Shri and former President APJ Abdul Kalam.
