Google's purchase of Postini gets US antitrust approval

WASHINGTON: Google has received US antitrust approval to acquire Web-based security provider Postini, US officials said on Wednesday.   

Antitrust authorities completed their review of the $625 million deal without taking any action to block it, the US Federal Trade Commission said in a notice.   

Last month, Google said it planned to buy Postini to expand its package of online applications to compete with Microsoft Office.
