NEW DELHI: India's superlative performance in the second Test in the ongoing Test series against England has turned out to be a windfall for ESPNStar with the ad slots for the upcoming One-Day series almost being booked completely.

The likes of Visa and Cadbury's have joined the bandwagon of advertisers led by Maruti Udyog, Coca Cola and Airtel.

Besides, companies such as Motorola and Havell's have also booked their slots for the seven match One-Day series starting on August 21.

According to industry sources, the charge for a 10-second slot for the One-Day series is being priced at Rs 1.75 lakh.

Incidentally, for the ongoing Test series a 10-second slot is priced between Rs 65,000 and Rs 70,000.

"This time around the channel has even committed delivery of good TRPs and hence advertisers are willing to pay what the channel has asked for," the sources said.

When contacted, the ESPNStar spokesperson declined to comment.

However, the sources said the broadcaster is almost close to sealing the ad-slots for the One-Day series with positive response from advertisers, who are expecting more eyeballs for the matches.

The media planning industry is also upbeat that finally cricket is back in the reckoning.

"Cricket is delivering again and people in India have always looked up to the game," Madison Media Plus CEO Basabdutta Chowdhuri said.

Asked to comment on the pricing of ads for the upcoming series, she said: "India's performance had gone down, but such things do not have a long-term effect. The India England series is an 'A' class tournament and the rates which advertisers are paying for this series are fair."
