MELBOURNE: Indian doctor Mohammed Haneef, cleared of terror charges in Australia in connection with last month's failed car bombings in UK after remaining in custody for nearly four weeks, arrived in Bangkok on Sunday on his way to India.

The 27-year-old doctor remained within the Bangkok International Airport's inner terminal without passing through the Thai immigration after he flew out of Brisbane aboard a Thai Airways plane.

Reports reaching here said Haneef, who was inside the terminal, was seen leaving Thai Airways flight TG992 and move quickly to a first-class lounge within the terminal.

The doctor said 'thank you' to the mediapersons and photographers trying to get near him while he was being taken to the lounge.

A flight from Bangkok is due to depart at 7.30 pm local time to Bangalore, where Haneef will be reunited with his wife and the newborn daughter.
