MUMBAI: The Mumbai Cricket Association has decided to write back to former Test and World Cup captain Srinivas Venkataraghavan to approach it through the Cricket Board as per regulations for allotment of the seventh and final ODI against Australia in October as his benefit tie.

"We cannot directly allot him the benefit tie as per the BCCI regulations and that's why we have decided to ask him to write to the board to get a specific (ODI) match allotted to him for the purpose," said MCA vice president Ravi Savant today.

Venkat's request letter to the MCA allot the October 17 day-night clash between India and the World Cup champions at the Wankhede Stadium here was discussed at the association's managing committee meeting on Friday which was presided over by Savant.

The former captain and ICC Elite Panel umpire had been given the green signal by the BCCI in 2003 to have a benefit tie in his favour as and when he chooses.

The MCA managing committee also decided to tell its former stumper Sameer Dighe to get a domestic tie allotted as his benefit by the BCCI and then approach it.

"He has to get it sanctioned first by the BCCI and then approach us. But he will have to make all the arrangements for holding the match though we will help him, like giving the stadium free of charge," Savant said.

The committee also decided to continue its sponsorship deal with the National Egg Co-ordination Committee for the next two years.

"The amount was Rs 65 lakh for sponsoring all our teams last year. The same arrangement will continue but if they want to sponsor the women's team too (not in existence last year) then they will have to pay an additional amount," Savant said.

Former Test opener Sudhir Naik was appointed the curator of the Wankhede Stadium for two years and was givin the additonal responsibility of pitch consultant for MCA's grounds at the Bandra-Kurla Complex and suburban Kandivli.

"M S Rao and Hemu Dalvi were appointed as the curators for the two grounds respectively", the MCA official said.

It was also decided to postpone the inauguration of the indoor cricket academy which was scheduled on August 15. The MCA office, however, will be shifted to the Cricket Centre
(headquarters of the BCCI) on August 17," Savant said.
