MUZAFFARNAGAR: A Pakistani woman living here for the past 45 years on a long-term visa has sought the help of newly elected President Pratibha Patil to get Indian nationality.

Nafisa Begum, 73, has written a letter to Patil, seeking her intervention as her application for Indian nationality "has been pending for a long period".

Nafisa has lived in Jhimjhama town in Muzaffarnagar district since 1965 after getting a divorce from her husband Tofiq.

Her second husband, Ahmad, an Indian national, died 20 years ago.
