Maj Gen K J S Oberoi new military secretary to President

NEW DELHI: In high level changes being effected in the Rashtrapati Bhavan, Major General Vinod Chopra, Military Secretary to the President, was on Thursday shifted from the post and Major Gen K J S Oberoi was appointed in his place.

Chopra was called last evening after President Pratibha Patil visited Raj Ghat and was conveyed about the decision.

Home Ministry official order on Thursday said Major General Oberoi has been appointed as the new Military Secretary to the President.

Gen Chopra had been appointed as MSP only in April last year and the posting was for a minimum of three years. However, in this case, possibily for the first time, an MSP had was moved out in this fashion.

Gen Oberoi is at present posted as General Officer in Commanding of Delhi.

A new post of 'Social Secretary' was likely to be created for which an IFS officer of 1985 batch has been shortlisted, official sources said.

A Squadron Leader, posted as her ADC when she was Rajasthan Governor, was staying in the Family wing the Presidential wing.

The IAF officer, who had been accompanied Patil during her electioneering, was reverted back to Jaipur following a complaint by the Home Ministry.
