Roommates tie man before raping wife

A one-month stay in Mumbai has proved to be a nightmare for a Delhi couple living in Mahim. Coming to the city for better prospects, the Thakurs managed to get accommodation in a chawl near Mahim and had been living in a room – a curtain acting as a veil of privacy. Three men, who also shared the apartment, recorded their intimate moments and blackmailed the husband and sought sexual favours from the wife. When the husband refused, they tied him up outside the house and took turns to rape his wife in the early hours of Wednesday.

After gaining her composure, Vidya (name changed) approached the Shahu Nagar police station and registered a complaint. “We have arrested the accused. They have been identified Parvez Shaikh, Samir Shaikh and Shabbir Shaikh. They will be produced in court on Thursday for remand,” said a senior police officer. The husband, Anil, works in a printing press in Dharavi.

The three threatened the couple that if they failed to agree to their demands, they would post it on the Internet. When repeated blackmailing did not yield any result, they decided to rape her on Wednesday. “The husband could not do anything since they tied up his legs and hands,” added the officer.
