NEW DELHI: Faced with growing wranglings within his party, BJP chief Rajnath Singh today asked young leaders not to resort to fault-finding and leg-pulling.

"Don't do politics for lies, leg-pulling, grumbling and for picking holes," a party statement quoted him as saying in his address to the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha's national executive meeting here.

The BJP chief, whose recent revamp of work allocation had triggered disaffection towards him in the party, said decision-making should be carried out with an open mind.

"Do introspection. Take decisions not with narrow but with an open mind," Singh said. "... a country whose leaders take decision with a narrow mind gets destroyed."

In his speech, the BJP leader also spoke about terror threats from Pakistan and Bangladesh and about Maoist activities in Nepal. He accused the ruling UPA of not opposing China's alleged claims on Arunachal Pradesh.

Meanwhile, the BJP downplayed a news report about alleged irregularities pointed out by the public accounts committee (PAC) on the Gujarat government's Rs 3,000-crore Sujalam Sufalam water supply scheme.

"One should not read too much into it (the PAC report) and instead should see how successful the scheme has been at the ground level," party spokesman Prakash Javadekar told.

He insisted that "gaps" do remain while executing schemes of such magnitude and said governments do also table their action-taken reports along with the PAC's in state assemblies.

The PAC reportedly says that Rs 668-crore worth of contracts under the scheme were awarded in violation of rules.
