Aussie cops are stupid, says Haneef’s wife

 BANGALORE: The wife of Dr Mohammed Haneef, Firdous Arshiya, on Saturday said she never expected “such a stupid thing” from the Australian police.

The cops detained Haneef on charges of giving his SIM card to his cousin Sabeel Ahmed, a suspect in the Glasgow terror plot. He was detained for being “reckless” and not “intentional”.

“They want to just hold him back. That is why they are doing this,” she said. “Why did the Australian police wait for 12 days?” According to her, the Australian Police were aware from day one that Haneef had left his SIM card with his cousins.

“Since the police could not find anything substantial against him they had framed him,” she alleged.

Arshiya added that she may go to Australia to help her husband fight the case. “I will be talking to Haneef’s lawyer Peter Russo later regarding the case,” she added.
