IITS to be set up with Rs 200 investment: Minister

In a bid to improve cyber security, Indian Institute of Information Technology and Security, first of its kind in the country, will be set up in Bengal with an investment of Rs 200 cr.

KOLKATA: In a bid to improve cyber security, Indian Institute of Information Technology and Security, first of its kind in the country, will be set up in Bengal with an investment of Rs 200 crore, Minister-in charge of Information Technology Debesh Das said on Saturday.

Speaking at a seminar on Cyber Security organised by Bengal chamber of Commerce & Industry, Mr Das said, ''The institute, which will be built in an area of 100 acre in Kalyani, would facilitate research activities in the state.''

The institute would be built on Public Private Partnership model, he said.

The chief minister had written to Union Minister of Human Resource Development Arjun Singh, seeking the Centre's approval on the proposal.
