AHMEDABAD: In a bid to keep communal tension at bay, Bollywood bad boy, Salman Khan’s films are going to be broadcast during this rath yatra.

This, along with the installation of surveillance cameras connected to CCTVs, is going to be implemented by the Ahmedabad police for this year’s rath  yatra.

Zone IV police is going to broadcast Bollywood blockbusters like Mughal-e-Azam, Naya Daur and other hits of Salman Khan to assure that there is no unnecessary crowding on the road and that people remain inside their homes, glued to their television.

Giving details of the plan which is being implemented for the first time by the city police, the Zone IV Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), ND Solanki said, “There is almost a curfew like situation in places like Dariyapur during the rath yatra but even then people come out in streets as they have nothing better to do.

“Films could be used to assure that they remain inside, and we are contacting the local cable operators to make the final arrangements,” added Solanki.

During its meetings with the local cable operators the police also tried to the gauge the mood and interest of the people especially youths, and has zeroed in on several old time favourites from black and white era and patriotic movies.

“But it would be helpful if cable operators show Salman Khan starrers at the time when the yatra begins. This will save a lot trouble for us from miscreants,” said a senior cop involved with the rath yatra security.
