Bhupathi-Sania and Roy crash out of Wimbledon

LONDON: Indian duo of Mahesh Bhupathi and Sania Mirza crashed out of the Wimbledon after suffering a second round defeat in the mixed doubles event here on Thursday.

The unseeded pair of Bhupathi and Sania, who were playing together in a Grand Slam for the first time, went down to ninth seeds Marcin Matkowski of Poland and Cara Black of Zimbabwe 4-6 4-6.

While Bhupathi had pulled out of the men's doubles event, Sania has already been ousted both in the women's singles and doubles events.

India did not have luck even in the junior category as Rupesh Roy lost to eighth-seeded Kellen Damico of the USA in the boys' singles second round. Roy lost to Damico 6-3 3-6 10-6.
