Harassed woman parades in under-garments

RAJKOT: A woman, who was allegedly being harassed by her husband and mother-in-law, paraded on the road in under-garments seeking strict action against the two, police said on Monday.

Puja Parmar, came to the police station last evening wearing only under-garments and sought help of police commissioner, K Nityanandam.

Puja alleged that she was repeatedly harrased by her husband and mother-in-law, police said.

However, since the commissioner was not present in the office the woman later paraded on streets, police said, adding she was later taken to Gandhigram police station.

According to police, Puja was mentally disturbed after being repeatedly harassed by her husband and mother-in-law for dowry.

On June 29, Puja had attempted to suicide by setting her self ablaze in local crime branch (LCB) premises but was prevented by the police.

Her husband, Pratat Chauhan and mother-in-law, Hansa Chauhan have been arrested on  Tuesday, police added.
