ALLAHABAD: Cornered by her economic condition, a mother of three minor children has appealed to the President for mercy death.

Minni Singh, a resident of ADA colony in Naini area here has appealed for mercy killing after being diagnosed for kidney disfunctioning. Her husband Shankar Dayal Singh, a teacher by profession is not in a position to bear the cost of her treatment.

Shankar, in a letter addressed to President Abdul Kalam, has mentioned that he had already spent all his money on his father's treatment. who died last year of cancer. Now, he was not in a position to meet the high costs of his wife's treatment.

He said he has three children two daughters and one son and an old mother to take care of and cannnot spend Rs 8,000 to 10,000 per month on minni's treatment.

Singh has appealed to the President that "Either I may be given financial help for the treatment of my wife or she be allowed mercy death."

He has also appealed to the people to extend help to save his wife.
