Two persons have been arrested by the Malad police for fraudulently using credit cards for purchasing.
Two persons have been arrested by the Malad police for fraudulently using credit cards for purchasing. The arrested have been identified as 20-year-old Radhika Wakharia and her uncle Mohan Girilal Prasad Kaushal, both residents of Mathuradas Road in Kandivali (W).
Wakharia, said the police, is a SSC pass student and used to work with ICICI Bank as telemarketing person and had quit the job two months ago, while Kaushal works in a private firm in Andheri (E). The duo was arrested for misusing credit cards of one Ninad Raut, an engineer from Dahisar.
Police inspector Dhanaji Nalawade of Malad police station said, “On June 23, Raut had visited Raghuleela Shopping Centre in Kandivali for shopping and later went to In-Orbit Mall. Raut lost his wallet, which contained five credit cards and Rs 250.
The arrested got the wallet and shopped worth Rs 70,000 by using two cards. Raut told the bank to lock his card the same day.”
On June 27, Wakharia had visited to Indraprastha Shopping centre in Borivali (W) to purchase some clothes. Since she did not find the clothes of her choice, she dropped her cellnumber with the shop owner and told them to inform her when the clothes are available.
The next day, the shop owner informed her to collect her clothes. She purchased the clothes using Raut’s credit cards.
“The shop owner realised that the money is not getting transferred from the bank. He then contacted the bank. The bank then learnt that Raut’s credit card was misused by someone else.
They then informed the police, who then got Wakharia’s cell number and managed to nab her on June 29. Her interrogations revealed that Kaushal was also involved in the crime,” said PI Nalawade.
