HP Board to set questions based on IQ

DHARAMSALA: Authorities in Himachal Pradesh on Friday said they planned to introduce question papers based on the varied intelligence quotient (IQ) of students, with 40 per cent of questions set for below average pupils.

In the annual examination of classes VIII, X, XI and XII in March next year, 40 per cent of the questions would be set keeping in mind below average students, as many for average group and 20 per cent for students with high IQ, Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education Chairman B R Rahi said.

He said HPBSE would be the first board in the country to introduce such a system.

Besides, the Board has decided to fix 15 per cent marks on internal assessment in each subjects at these levels from the next academic session 2008-09, he told reporters.

The Chairman said 6300 students of class X of old syllabus, who failed in their last chance in the last examination, can reappear in the March Board exams.

The Board has set up a special fund of Rs 10 lakh to help the economically weaker students, Rahi said.
