Temple idol stolen in Kerala

KASARAGOD(KER): An idol of the deity was found to have been stolen from a temple at Hosangadi near the border town of Manjeswaram today, police said.

The one-and-a-half kg bronze idol was found stolen this morning by a woman who reached the temple premises for cleaning.

Besides, a hundi box kept inside the temple was also found to have broken, emptying the cash, they said.

The robbers gained entry after breaking open the doors of the sanctum sanctorum and sped away with the idol, they said adding the police was on the look out for the miscreants.

Meanwhile, fingerprint experts reached the temple as part of the investigation.
