LUCKNOW: After the debacle in the recent assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP has decided to strengthen its organisational base in the state by bringing committed party workers on the forefront.

The workers, who are associated with the party on the basis of ideology, would be given important responsibilities in the organisation, state BJP spokesman Hriday Narain Dixit told.

He said a meeting of the newly-appointed district and city convenors, district election officers and state office bearers was held here today to chalk out the programme for the organisational polls of the state unit.

It was decided to complete the district-level polls of the party by the last week of August next, Dixit said.

BJP legislature party leader Om Prakash Singh, while addressing the meeting, said the organisational polls should not be taken as a mere formality.

Hard working workers would be brought to the forefront in the party elections, Singh said.

Senior party leader Lalji Tandon asked the workers not be disheartened by the defeat in the assembly polls and strengthen the organisation.

State president Kesri Nath Tripathi presided over the meeting.
