VADODARA: A suspended Gujarat BJP MLA on Sunday said rebels in the party, including some MLAs unhappy with the governance of Chief Minister Narendra Modi, may form a new party if the central leadership does not remove him from the post.

"If Modi is removed from the post of chief minister, we will remain with the BJP and will not form a new party. Otherwise, a new party could be formed," Dhiru Gajera, who was suspended last year for his anti-party activities, said.

Gajera said despite making representations to the top party leaders on number of occasions in the past, no action was taken against Modi and it was time to send a 'warning to central leadership of the party'.

Gajera, who was in the city to meet another suspended BJP leader and former health minister Nalin Bhatt, addressed a a gathering of BJP workers.

Gajera hit out at senior party leader L K Advani for his role in Modi replacing Keshubhai Patel as chief minister under whose leadership BJP had secured more than 120 seats in 1995 and subsequent assembly poll.

He said the senior BJP leader has failed in serving the interests of Gujarat after being elected from Gandhinagar parliamentary constituency.

Gajera also hit out at Modi government alleging it had failed on all fronts and its shortcomings should be highlighted.

He said Modi has brought disrepute to the state and his claim of Gujarat being number one has no truth.

"I fail to understand as to on what basis Modi talks of Gujarat Gaurav," Gajera asked.

Gajera warned if BJP central leadership fails to remove Modi then large number of party workers under some MLAs and progressive people will join hands to form a new party.

He said BJP came to power riding on Hindutva wave but more than 4,000 Hindus have been languishing in jails and Modi government has not done anything for them.

Gajera accused Modi government of harassing farmers and giving incentives to the rich in the state.

Increase in number of suicide cases of farmers, kidnapping of women, dacoity, loots etc themselves speak for the kind of law and order situation prevailing in the state, Gajera said.

He alleged instead of building the image of party, Modi government has been misusing funds to organise expensive investment summits.
