KANPUR: At least six BSP supporters were injured in a clash with Samajwadi Party members at Nauranga area here on Wednesday.

Superintendent of Police Abhai Prasad said that a local BSP leader's nephew Ram Naresh runs a PCO in the area while SP member Sunil Dhobi also has a PCO in the same locality. Both of them are business rivals, he said.

When Ram Naresh along with a few friends were going for some work, Sunil along with Irshad allegedly attacked them with battery acid. Six persons were reportedly injured.

The injured, including Naresh, were admitted at a hospital.

Police took Sunil and Irshad into custody and a case has been registered against them.

The other injured have been identified as Raj Narayan, Ashok Kumar, Vijay, Ajai and Sanjay.

Additional security personnel have been deployed in the area to keep vigil on the situation.

Police were also looking for two other accomplices of Naresh who were also allegedly involved in the incident.
