Despite the hype about the transfers of senior IPS officers, the State Home Department of Maharashtra on Tuesday finalised a list of merely 58 IPS offices of Superintendent of Police and Deputy Commissioner of Police.
Highlight of the list is IPS officer Deepak Pande’s posting as Superintendent of Police, Akola. Similarly, KM Prasanna, Sindhudurg SP, who had hit the headlines during Malwan assembly by-poll for his allegedly pro-Narayan Rane actions, has been transferred to Mumbai as DyCP.
Prominent among those who have got transfers in Mumbai as DyCPs included KM Prasanna, SB Ramanand, RE Pawar, AS Deshbhratar, Supriya Yadav, and SS Solunke. Contradictory to expectations, Home Department did not touch the list of senior IPS to be transferred. It may be noted that transfers and promotions of the senior IPS officers of the rank of Deputy Inspector General and above from the 1985 batch and their seniors were held back because three senior IPS officers of the 1985 batch had gone to the Supreme Court against one of the promotee officer Gulabrao Pol being first given seniority of 1987 batch and then of 1984 batch.
Pol has filed a petition in the SC challenging the contention of the three IPS officers namely Subodh Jaiswal, KL Bishnoi and Surendra Kumar. Both petitioners have got a stay from apex court. Due to which all the transfers and promotions of the senior IPS officers of DIG and above have been held back by the Home Minister.
Earlier in the day, RR Patil called on Vilasrao Deshmukh, at his official residence. According to protocol, DyCm-cum-Home Minister is expected to seek CM’s consent. After this, final touches to the list were given by the officers of the Home Department and the DyCM’s office at Sahyadri, state guest house.

AM Lohia ( DCP, Mumbai to SP Gondia), JJ Naiknaware ( DCP, Mumbai to State Excise Department), Pradeep Dighavkar ( DCP, Mumbai to SP Raigad), AS Dongre ( DGP office, Mumbai to SP, Ahmednagar).
