NEW DELHI: Despite a marginal dip in temperatures in most parts of north and central India, the heat wave continued unabated with 43 more deaths reported on Monday, pushing the toll to 117.

But there is some good news for Mumbai. According to the meteorological department,   monsoon is expected to hit the city around Friday. But back in Rajasthan, Sriganganagar blazed at 46.3 degrees Celsius, while Churu sizzled at 46.1 degrees. A beggar was found dead in Jaipur.

In Punjab, capital Amritsar reeled under a day temperature of 45.1 degrees Celsius, while Hissar in Haryana still remained hot at 45.8 degrees. The blistering heat claimed four lives in Hoshiarpur, Sunam and Patiala in Punjab.
Thirteen people died in Uttar Pradesh since Sunday evening, taking the toll in the state to 62. Five persons each died in Sitapur and Pratapgarh, two in Chitrakoot and one in Auraiya.

Four persons died in Madhya Pradesh. Six bodies were recovered from different parts of Gwalior, while four persons died on their way to the hospital. Nine bodies were found in south Delhi, while two persons died in northeast Delhi.
