Optical storage media maker Moser Baer India Ltd on Thursday said its unit, Moser Baer Photo Voltaic Ltd has orders worth more than 100 million dollars.

NEW DELHI: Optical storage media maker Moser Baer India Ltd on Thursday said its unit, Moser Baer Photo Voltaic Ltd has orders worth more than 100 million dollars.

The unit has started commercial shipment of its solar photovoltaic cells, it said in a statement.

In addition, the unit produces photovoltaic cells at expected level of output with cell efficiency levels up to 15.5 per cent.

"The in-line high yield systems are critical for rapid deployment of solar power in large-scale and volumes. The response for our product has been encouraging and we have orders from customers based out of America, Europe and South Asia," Moser Baer Photo Voltaic Ltd CEO, Ravi Khanna said.

A 20MW module making capacity in the forthcoming quarter is also on MBPV's card, Mr Khanna added.

The company is also mulling to straddle multiple future technologies and emerge as an engineering and technology driven company. It is moving towards technological leadership in this industry and intends to develop a sustainable competitive edge by investing into disruptive technologies.

The global photovoltaic market is on a high growth curve with sales expected to grow six times to 40 billion dollars by 2010.
