Radical leader held for raid on Star News

The police on Tuesday arrested Dhananjay Desai, 45, president of Hindustan Kranti Sena for allegedly attacking the Star News office at NM Joshi Marg.

An officer from NM Joshi Marg station said, “They have arrested Desai from his hide-out at Kolhapur on Tuesday. He will be produced before the metropolitan magistrate’s court on Wednesday. He along with his party activists attacked the Star office on April 12 to protest against Star News for telecasting news about a Muslim boy who eloped with a Hindu girl.” 

Sources said that there were seven serious offences including possession of weapons registered against him at Pune. Besides Pune, there were five cases and two cases of possession of weapons and disturb-bing the public peace, registered against him at Goregaon and Bhayander police stations respectively, police added.
