41 trains cancelled in wake of Gujjar agitation

NEW DELHI: For the second day running, Railways continued to cancel and reschedule dozens of trains in view of the ongoing Gujjar agitation in Rajasthan.

As many as 41 trains were cancelled by Northern Railway, North Western Railway, Western Railway and West Central Railway, an official release said.

The decision was taken after reviewing the overall situation prevailing in the Rajasthan as also keeping in view movements of passengers from one part to another in the country, Railway Ministry sources said.

While 15 major trains were cancelled by Northern Railway and 12 by North Western Railway, Western Railway and North Central Railway had to stop 11 and 12 trains respectively.

The West Central railway also cancelled one train--Nizamuddin Kota Jan Shatabdi.

A number of these trains were cancelled by Railways yesterday in view of concern over safety of passengers following the violence in Rajasthan.
