SRINAGAR: A militant group has warned cable operators in Jammu and Kashmir of dire consequences if they fail to stop transmission of certain "immoral channels" by Wednesday.

"We had requested the cable operators to stop the transmission of certain immoral channels but they have not paid heed. If they do not stop the transmission from eight am tomorrow, we will not be responsible for their death," Al Badr Mujahideen spokesman Abu Atif Hijazi told a local news agency.

Militant groups have issued warnings to cable operators against airing certain channels, mostly English movie channels, from time to time. Some operators have been targeted and some have been even killed since the eruption of militancy in the state.

Hijazi said his group was carrying on its drive against immoral activities in the state and would soon expose another sex scandal.

"We have taken four girls into our custody and very soon the details of the scandal would be made public," he said.

Meanwhile, Hizbul Mujahideen has warned those people, who are indulged in felling of trees in Pattan area of Baramulla district, to refrain from such activities.

"People with vested interests are looting the national treasure but Hizb will not allow it," divisional commander of the group Gazi Nassebuddin said in a statement.
