The Local Crime Branch officials of Thane (Rural) police have arrested three persons in connection with a murder. The accused have been identified as Faim Khan Ibrahim Khan alias Lala, resident of Vasai, Haresh alias Harsh Prabhakar Patil, 19, a resident of Fatharwadi, Gokhiware, taluka Vasai and Kamlesh alias Babloo Shankar Malpade, 27, a resident of Sadar, Virar.

The accused were arrested in connection with the murder of Lala’s elder brother Mohammed Naim Ibrahim Khan alias Munnabhai, 56, a resident of Ashwin Nagar, Vasai (W). Two unidentified persons had assaulted Naim with sticks when he was on his way home by his scooter (MH-05-B-4958) at about 9.30 p.m. on April 2. The culprits killed Naim on the spot and fled the scene. A case was registered in this regard at the Manikpur police station.

The identity of the deceased was established from a diary and mobile phone. The investigations of the case were handed over to the LCB on April 4. Meanwhile, Faim Khan filed a sensational affidavit in Thane Court, in March this year, saying Jayant alias Bhai Thakur had hired him to kill Vivek Pandit of Shramjivi Sanghatana, NCP leader from Mira Bhyander Gilbert Mendonsa and cable operator Prakash Tandel. The affidavit had rocked the political circle in the district. A team of LCB led by police inspector Nisar Pathan and police sub inspector Nitin Thakre, following Court orders, began investigations into the matter also.

Investigations revealed that Faim and Naim Khan were in transport business and Faim had disputes with Naim over the business. The Superintendent of Police, Thane (Rural) Archana Tyagi said, “Naim knew that few of Bhai Thakur’s men who used to frequent his office. As Naim’s business flourished over the period  of time, Faim developed a feeling that it was due to assistance by Bhai Thakur’s men. With an intention  to check the growth of Naim’s business, Faim filed the affidavit in Thane Court.”
