MUMBAI: The brain drain may be passé for Mumbai’s Gen-Next academic achievers. The city’s toppers in ICSE and ISC, whose results were announced on Saturday, said they prefer institutes within the country for higher studies rather than universities abroad. “India gives ample opportunities to succeed,” says Tejas Naphade, of Poddar School, Santacruz, who bagged the second spot for  Class X in Mumbai. His dream is to be a doctor.

IIT-Bombay is a dream destination for Sankalp Kelshikar of Sulochanadevi Singhania School in Thane, who achieved the third highest marks in the city.

ISC topper Sana Suri feels India is the best choice. “I want to specialise in genetic research and India offers the best institutes,” she said. Adds Nikit Desai, a Class X achiever, “I had appeared for an entrance test conducted by a New Zealand University but have decided to opt for the  University of Mumbai.” Despite having the world as their oyster, for these young achievers, there is no place like home.
