HYDERABAD: The Centre on Saturday said it had no difficulty in ordering a CBI probe into blast at Mecca Masjid here but a final decision would be taken after conclusion of the ongoing investigation by Andhra Pradesh police.

"If the state government wants it and if it is necessary, there will be no difficulty to hand over the case to CBI," Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil told reporters here after visiting the blast site and the hospital where the injured are undergoing treatment.

He said the state and Central governments would "sit together" and decide on entrusting the case to CBI.

Earlier, Patil suggested to Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy that the ongoing investigations be taken to their logical conclusion before considering handing over the case to the CBI.

"We are not saying no to CBI inquiry. But, if you send every case in the country to CBI, there will be delay in concluding the probe," he said.

The Chief Minister, who was also present at the press conference, said his government had no objection for "either a CBI inquiry or judicial probe or both".

"We are considering various options. After completing preliminary inquiry, we will take a decision," Reddy said.

Asked who could be behind the terror attack, Patil said, "We have some information but premature disclosure does not help in investigation".

On whether there was intelligence warning about possible attack, he said the government had information that places of worship could be the targets but there was "no information about the time and place".

Regarding questions being raised over inadequate security measures at Mecca Masjid, Patil said there were some difficulties in devising security measures at religious places.

Cautining against "jumping to conclusions" in linking Friday's blast with Malegaon explosion, the Minister said both the incidents were being investigated.

"Both the attacks may or may not be linked," he said.

Asked about the external links, Patil responded cautiously saying, "We should not keep blaming before completing the investigations. We cannot say anything unless final conclusion is given."

Asked whether any other city could come under terror attack, he said, "We have some information about possible terror targets. We are examining how to provide better securit to these cities without creating fear psychosis."
